Chef required (approx 20-25hrs/week)

 

As a chef at The Green Man, Ropsley, you’ll work alongside our highly experienced Head Chef who will support you to develop your full potential whilst helping us grow our reputation as an independent, destination, country pub and restaurant.

Everyday will be different and you’ll be given the opportunity to practice a full range of food production activities whilst also understanding the wider operation of the pub.

This is a position which represents the evolution of our food service hours where you'll be working a minimum of 20-25hrs a week and spearheading the Sunday Lunches.

Our website will give you a flavour of the Green Man and where we’ve got to as a concept over the last year.

With ambitious plans to grow our customer base through stretching the boundaries and genuinely getting the basics right “first time, every time”, we’re relentless in delivering GREAT food, GREAT beer and GREAT hospitality each and every day.

 

What you'll need...

To be passionate about all aspects of food and cooking back of house whilst also having the attitude to work (and play!) alongside our growing team.

Experience of food preparation but not only of a "line production" style... We want innovators, someone who can flex, someone who can over deliver on expectations

To enjoy learning. (There’s oodles of bite sized training on offer from beer appreciation, wine classes and licensing obligations that are "outside the box" of a typical chef career.

To enjoy the buzz of being busy and getting stuck in. We're a small pub but you'll need PACE and RESILIENCE to work alongside us at our busy periods.

A good level of spoken English.

A "want to work attitude". We don't suffer fools and lay-abouts quickly find their shifts dry up!

Happy to work as part of a team and be committed enough to work most weekends (especially Sundays!) and bank holidays although we operate a fair, rolling rota across the team.
